Prestige Project Portfolio Article: Classic country house design meets modern living

Brunskill Architects are exhibiting this early study for sympathetic works to a classic property. Our 'before and after' images show the type of green oak framed addition that we feel will add valuable open plan living space to a home.

The plan arrangement proposed connects the reception spaces into a large new areas of garden room. These will be triple and double glazed , with opening panels and blinds to give flexibility and ventilation options relating to the ever changing weather conditions.

We believe that understanding the construction methods and history of old buildings is critical to ensuring energy efficient modernisation is sympathetic. We strive to breathe life into tired Listed buildings and to create beautiful, light and airy spaces for contemporary lifestyles.

Country House in Delightful Historic Village: Permission for Alterations Achieved

Permission has been granted by East Herts Council to make substantial alterations to this home. It is planned to look like the drawings attached here. There will be significant internal alterations which will make the house more energy efficient as well as enhancing the lives of the owners by making the spaces work better for them. Some spaces will be remodelled to make them more open or transparent. A double height space is to be created. One of the alterations planned is a new basement.
