Grand Designs Live at Excel this year

It took a bit of effort (thanks guys) but we made it at last!

Brunskill Design’s inaugural participation in the Grand Designs Exhibition LIVE took place 5th-13th of May at the Excel Centre London. It proved to be a very rewarding and eventful nine days in which the all team at Brunskill Design engaged with the public, prospective clients and allied professionals.
Live talks from Kevin McCloud and George Clarke were some of the highlights while Architect Helen Brunskill and Izabella Takacs of Brunskilldesign discussed projects and drew plans and sketches for interested attendees in our open studio.
At the show there were some really new things to see, such as the carbon filament floor and the frameless bifold door. The shared knowledge on eco building items was great.
We talked through our past, current and future projects and had a fantastic response from both curious spectators and those actively searching for architectural services. Meeting so many people with enthusiasm about creating better buildings to really enhance lives was truly inspiring. We look forward to realising some of the varied and exciting prospects discussed during the event.  Some images of designs we have since created further to meetings at the exhibition are attached.

Being a part of such a prestigious and buzzing exhibition has been a great experience and we hope to see you all next year.

Testimonial

Working with Brunskill Design was our first experience of hiring architects.  We needed advice including how best to create an entirely new living space, how to bring to life the remainder of an old Victorian property to how to select and manage a team of surveyors and builders.   Helen and her team provided support and guidance throughout an 18 month process.  They have created a beautiful modern living space that embraces the garden and is a wonderfully light place to be even on a gloomy day.  Though modern, it complements the traditional feel of the remainder of the house, and the two come together through careful attention to detail.  Brunskill Design also undertook the project management, liaising with the planning department, building control and the team of builders.  Weekly visits to the site by Brunskill Design ensured high quality standards were met throughout, and the risk of a project over-run was tightly managed.  We couldn’t be happier with the end result, which simply could not have been achieved without the contribution of Helen and her team.
